Mitchell Drummond

The talented Mitchell Drummond was born and raised in Nelson and a provincial cricket rep in his teenage years. He moved to Christchurch and made his provincial debut in 2013 becoming first-choice number nine in 2015.

With just one provincial match in his career, he was selected for the Crusaders in 2014 and also played for the New Zealand Under 20 side in the Junior World Championship that same year, alongside Anton Lienert-Brown, Damian McKenzie, Richie Mo’unga and Atu Moli. In 2016, Drummond broke his leg and needed surgery but his determination and hard work saw him re-join the Crusaders for their successful 2017 Investec Super Rugby season.

After an impressive 2017 season, Drummond was selected for the Barbarians side which played the All Blacks in Twickenham, before joining the national side and making his All Blacks debut against the France XV. Drummond played a key role in the Crusaders retaining their title in 2018 and his natural leadership during Canterbury’s successful 2017 Mitre 10 Cup campaign saw the coaching team name him as co-captain for this year’s season.
