John Schwalger forced his way in to the starting Wellington Lions line-up during the 2005 Air New Zealand NPC season, and his performances resulted in Hurricanes selection.
He spent the 2006 Air New Zealand Cup learning the ropes at tight-head prop and is now equally adept on either side of the scrum.
Schwalger was a New Zealand Under 21s representative in 2004.
